NAPALM DEATH To Introduce New Album Via Exclusive European Shows

NAPALM DEATH will play two exclusive shows to introduce their forthcoming album "The Code Is Red...Long Live The Code" to the world — one in the U.K. and the other in Germany, according to RockReview.co.uk. These dates will be the first opportunity for fans to check out the godfathers of grindcore's new tunes, ahead of the album's release through Century Media in March 2005.

For the U.K., it will be NAPALM's first live performance in a year and a half, and hence the first since their highly acclaimed "Leaders Not Followers Part 2" covers album was released on August 23.

Support in Bochum on January 22 is already confirmed as labelmates MAROON, while some interesting additional guests are being lined up for both dates.

Says singer Barney Greenway, "We've never really been down the promo road before, so as well as having journalists over to listen, we didn't want everyone who has supported us over the years to miss out. We'd much rather be intimate and let everyone hear the songs in their best state — live. Hopefully we'll be able to drag along a special guest or two..."

The U.K. show will take place on January 24 at The Underworld in London.

In other news, NAPALM DEATH bassist Shane Embury has checked in from the band's current U.S. tour with CANNIBAL CORPSE via a posting on the group's official web site. "Wow, getting to that point in the tour now where tiredness is kicking in," he writes. "Great show in Pittsburgh the other night even though at first we didnt think the show would happen it turned out great in the end. I hooked up with Dan Lilker and Scott Lewis (the old BRUTAL TRUTH drummer) so that was a great reunion. We talked about doing another MALFORMED EARTHBORN album next year and whether the new 'Star Wars' movie will rule or not ha! Anyway, great times and that's what touring is all about. Dan played bass on 'Scum' [photo], which was great as he helped promote us a shitload in the early years and as become such a close friend. Also been hanging out with Pat from CANNIBAL and hitting those Irish bars. Hic!"
